The Wicklow and Wexford Gundog Association ran it’s Open Stake on Grouse on The Liffey Head on Saturday 5th August 2006. The judges for the day were Charlie Neilson, Tony Kieran and T O’Mahoney.The day started off misty but conditions steadily improved over the day and by the afternoon we had warm sun and perfect conditions.Grouse were scarce and scenting deteriorated over the day as it got warmer and drier. All dogs ran hard but some to little effect and quartering was not clean most of the time.

3rd F.T.Ch.New Addition Tom Dunne’s English Setter Dog
4th Caunlaun Flashey Boy Joe Magill’s English Setter Dog.
Jump :- He made a bit of a hash of this one. Only off the lead he checked a few haunts and then his opponent ran over one of these haunts and flushed a bird. Bye bye Jump.
Judy :- What can I say. She ran two perfect rounds. Had a great find in the first. Her second round was exceptional as she did almost exactly what I wanted without handling. She was fast, flat and wide. Very wide. I knew she could do it if she got a chance and she did. Roll on next weekend.
